Literature Noir's Ghana Heritage Experience— March 2027

Join me in Ghana to celebrate Ghana's 70th Independence day.
For 8 days in Ghana will move between reverence, celebration, and revelation. You'll walk the grounds of Assin Manso and Cape Coast Castle, where dungeons and doorways remind us of a treacherous past, then return to Accra to sit in intimate conversation with celebrated African authors and scholars whose words reframe the world. Contemporary galleries, photography archives, and the legacy sites of pan-African visionaries fill the days with texture and meaning.
At the heart of it all, a traditional Rebirth Ceremony welcomes you into the community by name; a moment of ancestral connection that anchors everything that follows. Between the profound and the pleasurable, there is room to breathe: beachfront meals with the Atlantic at your feet, a private designer pop-up, spa afternoons, and a bean-to-bar chocolate tour through Ghana's welcoming landscape.
Close your experience with the quiet understanding that you are leaving differently than you arrived — rooted, expanded, and transformed.

From airport welcome to private check-in with signature refreshments, your journey begins seamlessly. Get fitted for a custom African fabric piece, then unwind at an elevated Afro-fusion beachfront venue where culture meets luxury.
Day 1 - Welcome to Ghana

Explore Ghana's literary traditions with a university professor, then take in bold contemporary art in an Afro-Brutalist gallery. Spend your afternoon immersed in West Africa's largest photography archive before ending the night with al fresco seafood beneath an Accra sky.

Day 3 - Rebirth Ceremony & Cultural Immersion
Begin with a profound Rebirth Ceremony in a local village. Receive your Ghanaian name and be formally welcomed into the community; a homecoming rooted in ancestral connection. Lunch follows at a serene riverfront restaurant. Join the group later at a beach club for sundowners.
Day 4 - Author Meet & Greet + Journey Through Accra
An intimate morning with a celebrated African author gives way to the archives of the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre and the storied grounds of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. The day closes at the Arts Centre, lost among handcrafted textiles and the work of Accra's most spirited makers.
Day 2 - African Culture Through Literature, Art, & Culture

Walk the grounds of Assin Manso and Cape Coast Castle, where the weight of the transatlantic slave trade lingers in every stone. Then breathe it all in over a restorative lunch at the ocean's edge before the road home to Accra.
Day 5 - Healing Through History
Day 6 - Crafted By You
Relax by the pool, enjoy a spa treatment (at preferred rates), or explore the city independently. Attend a curated private designer pop-up at the hotel to shop intentionally. The day is yours to craft as you wish. Our Experience Curator will be available to assist in designing your day if you wish.

Day 7 - Bean to Bar Experience & Farewell Dinner
Journey to Amanase for a tour of Fairafric's chocolate factory, where Africa's first organic, fair-trade bean-to-bar chocolate takes shape — then craft a bar of your own to take home. As evening falls, the group gathers one last time for a farewell dinner, raising a glass to the memories made and the friendships that will linger long after Ghana.

Day 8 - Nantie Yie! Farewell
Depending on your departure time, squeeze in final shopping for pieces you couldn't leave behind. Your Guest Experience Curator orchestrates your seamless transfer to the airport, closing this chapter of transformation. You leave Ghana changed: rooted, connected, and intentional.
