Now it’s time to continue the journey somewhere deeply meaningful.
In February 2027, we are inviting you to join us in Ghana for a one-of-a-kind experience created especially for us.
For Terri, this journey is deeply personal. Throughout her career, she has intentionally created space for women to be seen, celebrated, and supported. Her passion for sisterhood, storytelling, and community has always been part of the work she does, both on screen and beyond it.
For Bessie, this journey also carries depth.
As the creator of Our Kind of Women and someone with both Ghanaian and American roots, this is an opportunity to share a place that has always been part of her story.
Ghana is home and a connection to generations that came before. Bringing women home feels like bringing two parts of her world together.
This won’t just be a vacation, but a reconnection, a refresh, and a homecoming.
Together, we’ll experience Ghana through art, culture, food, history, conversation, and community. But even more than that, we’ll also spend time with the remarkable women helping shape Ghana today—artists, entrepreneurs, creatives, community builders, and cultural leaders whose work is transforming their communities and inspiring the next generation.
We’ll gather with them, learn from them, celebrate with them, and continue building a bridge between women here and women across the diaspora.

MEET THE CREATIVE DIRECTOR + PHOTOGRAPHER
My goal is to hold up a mirror that says: You are already art.
To be seen is to be loved and to be put into good light is to be loved.
As a photographer and storyteller, my work lives at the intersection of art, identity, and becoming.
I am fascinated by the way Black women bloom; how we pivot, rebuild, and rise again, even after the world has told us our time has passed.
This project is my love letter to that quiet revolution
Through portraiture and conversation, I aim to create a space for Black women over 40 to be seen, heard, and celebrated-not as symbols of resilience, but as full, evolving beings.
Each session is an act of witnessing.
Each photograph is a collaboration— between the subject, the moment, and the truth that emerges when we allow ourselves to be fully present.
Our Kind of Women was born from my desire to see Black women—in all of our layers— reflected back to ourselves with reverence, honesty, and light.

Frequently asked questions
When is payment due?
A non-refundable $500 per person deposit is required to secure your spot. This will be credited to the total price of your trip. Monthly installment payments are also available. The remaining balance is due 60 days before the experience start date.
What documents do I need?
You will need an international passport with at least 6 months validity beyond your travel date, visa to Ghana (if required), yellow fever vaccination card/Medical Exemption Letter to be able to travel to Ghana.
Do I need travel insurance?
We understand that emergencies can occur which is why for every one's peace of mind, we require that all guests purchase travel insurance with minimum coverage standards after deposit is paid. What should I pack for this trip?

Can I skip activities?
We offer optional add-on activities on certain days that you can pay for directly. If you choose to skip any activities already included in your package, those are non-refundable.
